Safe & gentle Low watt, 4w infrared heat: The Komodo Heat Mat provides gentle, safe & even heat to create a localised warm spot in a terrarium. Attach under the enclosure to simulate a heated forest floor or desert sandbed, or affix to a side wall to create a tropical basking area.

The infrared heat warms the reptile rather than the ambient air, creating a safe heat gradient without overheating.

The Heat Mat supports thermoregulation, feeding and breeding activity. Suitable for most glass reptile habitats and available in a range of sizes and wattages to suit different species and habitat sizes. Use only low wattages for Bearded Dragons and not suitable for Chameleons who cannot sense from underneath. Supplied with a dual UK/Euro plug.

Installing a Heat Mat: Select a Heat Mat to cover a third or up to half of the enclosure only. Always remember to keep a cool area for your reptile to use after basking. Position the Heat Mat externally to the base, side or end wall of the terrarium, and use the the adhesive feet/tabs to attach it firmly to the glass. When mounting under the enclosure, use only a thin layer of substrate on the terrarium floor. When mounting on a side or end wall, position the Heat Mat above the substrate level.

Other requirements: Use a Komodo thermometer to accurately monitor the temperature in a reptile habitat. Over heating will cause reptiles to suffer and die. Insufficient heat will result in lack of appetite & decline in health. Maintaining the correct humidity is also an essential part of caring for your reptile, which can be monitored by installing a Komodo Hygrometer.
